AAA - The Auto Club Group Affiliates with AAA Minneapolis
Affiliation brings together neighboring AAA clubs to serve more than 830,000 members across Minnesota
AAA – The Auto Club Group (ACG) today announced its affiliation with AAA Minneapolis, bringing together two neighboring AAA organizations with a shared commitment to serving Members and communities across Minnesota.
AAA Minneapolis serves approximately 200,000 Members and employs 175 people throughout the Minneapolis metropolitan area and surrounding communities. With the affiliation, ACG will serve more than 830,000 Members in Minnesota, bringing its total membership to 14.2 million across its footprint.
“This is an exciting opportunity to bring together two strong organizations that share the same AAA heritage and commitment to putting members first,” said Joseph J. Richardson, Jr., Chairman, President & CEO of AAA – The Auto Club Group. “AAA Minneapolis has built a strong reputation for Member service, innovation and community involvement. By combining our talent, resources and expertise, we can build on that legacy, create new opportunities for employees and deliver even greater value and a more seamless AAA experience for Members throughout Minnesota.”
AAA Minneapolis has served motorists in the Twin Cities for more than a century. The club has established a strong local presence through roadside assistance, travel, insurance, traffic safety programs and community engagement.
The affiliation builds on an existing relationship between the two organizations. Teams from AAA Minneapolis and ACG have worked together for more than a year through dedicated workstreams focused on technology, business processes and resource planning, helping lay the groundwork for the transition.
“This affiliation positions AAA Minneapolis to build on more than a century of service while giving our Members and employees access to the resources and capabilities of one of the largest AAA clubs in North America,” said Tae Kim, President and CEO of AAA Minneapolis. “We know ACG well, we share the same Member-first values, and we have already seen what our teams can accomplish together. I’m excited about what this next chapter will mean for our Members, employees and the communities we serve.”
As part of the affiliation, Kim will join ACG as Senior Vice President, Integration and Business Development, reporting directly to Richardson. Kim has served as President and CEO of AAA Minneapolis since 2021 and brings extensive AAA and business leadership experience to his new role.
Members will continue to receive the AAA services and support they rely on today, while the affiliation creates opportunities for expanded Member benefits and offerings, greater access to AAA resources and expertise, and a more consistent service experience across Minnesota.
The current AAA Minneapolis headquarters will also remain an important part of ACG's operations. In addition to Membership, Travel, Insurance and Retail services, the facility will become an ACG Administrative Office Building, maintaining a significant AAA presence in the Minneapolis area and supporting ACG's continued investment in the Midwest.
