AAA Announces 2020 Diamond Designations for Florida Hotels and Restaurants

Florida has the 4th-most Five Diamond and 2nd-most Four Diamond establishments in the U.S

Hundreds of the most luxurious Florida hotels and restaurants landed on AAA's prestigious Four and Five Diamond lists for 2020. The Auto Club Group announced the listings Wednesday, which can be viewed at AAA.com/Diamonds.

"The AAA Diamond Program helps travelers better understand the overall quality, range of facilities and level of services offered by a property," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. "Unlike ratings from unknown users sharing their opinions, the Diamond designations are provided by experienced professionals using consistent guidelines to tell travelers what a property offers."

Florida has the fourth-most Five Diamond establishments.
Out of nearly 60,000 AAA Diamond establishments in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean; only 186 hotels and restaurants earned a Five Diamond designation. Twelve of those properties – 10 hotels and 2 restaurants – are in Florida.

"The Five Diamond Award is the top designation in the hospitality industry," said Jenkins. "These hotels and restaurants consistently exceed expectations by providing their guests highly personalized and memorable experiences; with world-class luxury and leading-edge cuisine."

Florida has second-most Four Diamond properties; 16 are new to the list.
AAA Four Diamond hotels and restaurants, which represent just 4.2% of the total, are also an exclusive group. They must be refined and stylish with upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.

Out of a total of 1,718 Four Diamond hotels and 682 Four Diamond restaurants in North America, 125 hotels and 62 restaurants are new. Florida has the second-most Four Diamond properties in the United States with 159 hotels and 50 restaurants. Sixteen Florida hotels are new to the list this year.

How to earn AAA Diamond designations

To earn the coveted AAA Five Diamond designation, hotels and restaurants must pass a rigorous evaluation that includes unannounced, in-person inspections, anonymous overnight stays for hotels, and, finally, review by a panel of experts as an additional step to ensure credibility. All AAA Diamond Program hotels and restaurants are re-evaluated annually to ensure they provide the best experience for travelers and diners.
