Domestic Gasoline Stocks Soar, Pushing Down Gas Prices

The national gas price average of $2.64, represents a seven-cent drop on the week as domestic gasoline stocks built by a surprising 4.4 million barrels, according to the Energy Information Administration's (EIA) latest update. Contributing to the build was at least 1.2 million barrels of imports at U.S. ports. AAA reports that on the week, nearly half of all states saw gas price averages decrease by at least a nickel. Today's national gas price average is 13-cents less than a month ago and 21-cents cheaper than a year ago.

According to AAA's Fuel Gauge website, Nebraska motorists are paying eleven cents less than the national average with unleaded fuel averaging $2.53 a gallon. Pump prices in Nebraska have dropped an average of four cents during the past week. The state average is 10-cents less than a month ago and 22 cents cheaper than a year ago when fuel averaged $2.75 a gallon across Nebraska.
