AAA: JACKSONVILLE GAS PRICES HIT 2018 LOW
Thanksgiving Gas Prices Will Average 7 Cents Less Than Last Year
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., (November 20, 2018) — Motorists in Jacksonville have another reason to be thankful this week. Overnight, the average price for gasoline in Jacksonville fell to $2.38 per gallon, which is the lowest daily average of 2018.
The metro average has declined for the past 45 consecutive days, delivering a total discount of 40 cents. The downward pressure on prices at the pump is the result of robust oil production and global supplies, which has caused oil prices to plunge by 25 percent.
"This is welcome news for motorists who are hitting the road for the holidays," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "The average motorist in Jacksonville will save about $6 for a full tank of gas, versus what they paid a little more than a month ago. This means more money in people's pockets to spend on gifts, hotels, and dining out. These low pump prices may also be added incentive for undecided travelers to take a last minute trip."
AAA forecasts 2.8 million Floridians will travel 50 miles or more for Thanksgiving. Of those, 2.5 million will drive. Gas prices on Thanksgiving Day, will average around $2.35 per gallon in Jacksonville; a 7-cent discount from last year's holiday.
