AAA: Michigan Gas Prices Decrease Slightly

DEARBORN, Mich., (July 13, 2026) - Gas prices in Michigan are down 1 cent from a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.95 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 28 cents less than this time last month but still 67 cents more than this time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $59 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; an increase of about $8 from 2025's highest price last August.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased from 9.13 million b/d to 8.84 million. Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 214 million barrels to 212.1 million. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.7 million barrels per day.

At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, WTI rose $3.08 to settle at $73.52 a barrel. The EIA reports that crude oil inventories increased by 3 million barrels from the previous week. At 411.4 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 6% below the five-year average for this time of year.

"Michigan drivers are seeing little change at the pump compared to last week, offering some price stability during the busy summer travel season," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $3.97 per gallon, about 4 cents less than last week’s average but still 72 cents more than this same time last year.

• Consider paying cash. Some retailers charge extra per gallon for customers who pay with a credit card.
• Remove excess weight in your vehicle.
• Drive conservatively. Aggressive acceleration and speeding reduces fuel economy.

Gas Price Survey Methodology

Every day up to 130,000 stations in the nation and more than 4,200 stations in Michigan are surveyed based on credit card swipes and direct feeds in cooperation with the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) and Wright Express for unmatched statistical reliability. All average retail prices in this report are for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline.
