Slight Drop in Gas Price Could Signal Further Declines

The price of gas in North Dakota slipped slightly last week but remains six cents above the statewide average of one month ago. Meanwhile, the national average fell two cents last week and is four cents lower than one month ago.

The average price of a gallon of regular gas in North Dakota is currently $2.67 while the national average stands at $2.71. Last year the averages stood at $2.85 and $2.86, respectively. Both averages are likely to move lower in the coming days on slumping oil prices, according to AAA.

Crude oil prices came under pressure last week after President Trump announced new tariffs on imports from China, furthering a trade war between the world's two largest economies and oil consumers. Market observers are concerned that increasing tariff costs will reduce global demand for crude oil.
