TN Gas Prices Up Seven Cents

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (November 17, 2025) — Gas prices moved more expensive over last week, rising seven cents, on average. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.68 which is three cents less expensive than one month ago and a penny less than one year ago.  

"Tennessee gas prices fluctuated higher over last week, but we're still seeing prices stay within a similar range," said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman for AAA - The Auto Club Group. "As we head toward Thanksgiving, drivers are now paying the same for a gallon of gas as they did for last year's holiday." 

Thanksgiving Outlook

AAA projects that over 1.8 million Tennesseans will travel by car this Thanksgiving, representing 96% of all holiday travelers. That number could rise if travelers opt to avoid potential flight disruptions.

Drivers can expect gas prices similar to last Thanksgiving, when the state average was $2.68 per gallon. AAA recommends filling up the night before travel and checking your battery and tire pressure. Last year, AAA responded to nearly 600,000 roadside assistance calls nationwide, many for dead batteries, flat tires, and empty fuel tanks.

National Gas Prices

No news is good news for drivers filling up their tanks. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline stayed the same this past week at $3.07. Gas prices have remained relatively quiet this month thanks to an abundance of crude oil. As we prepare to enter the busy Thanksgiving travel period, pump prices are expected to remain where they are now or drop even lower. Currently, drivers are paying the same as this time last year, when the national average was also $3.07.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased from 8.87 million b/d last week to 9.02 million. Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 206 million barrels to 205.1 million. Gasoline production in-creased last week, averaging 9.9 million barrels per day.

National Oil Market Dynamics

At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, WTI fell $2.55 to settle at $58.49 a barrel. The EIA reports crude oil inventories increased by 6.4 million barrels from the previous week. At 427.6 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 4% below the five-year average for this time of year.
